First Lady graces Muhwezi’s daughter’s giveaway Ceremony

Last Saturday, there was a wedding of the year at General Jim Muhwezi and his wife Susan’s home in Rukungiri during the traditional give-away ceremony for their first daughter Samantha Barungi Muhwezi to her fiancé Justin Kassami, son to the late Chris Kassami, the former Permanent Secretary to the Treasury.

The glamourous function was graced by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs. Janet Museveni, the Nnabagereka of Buganda Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda, the wife of the Prime Minister Jocelyn Rugunda, first daughter Mrs. Natasha Karugire, top government officials, businessmen, politicians, church leaders and friends and relatives from all over Uganda and abroad.

Mrs. Janet Museveni, who was the Chief guest at the function, congratulated the Muhwezi’s and the Kassami’s and mostly thanked God for having used them to bring the two wonderful children into the world and for enabling them to parent them up to this wonderful day. “We are all here today to celebrate and to join you to thank God who truly deserves all the honour and glory”, she said.

She applauded Susan Muhwezi, the mother of the bride, for knowing God and   accepting Jesus as her personal saviour and for bringing up her children on a religious foundation. She advised Samantha to always know that God who brought her to this beautiful day and gave her the man she loves, is the only one who can keep that love new and fresh every day. “Give space in your home to God. Make time for him both you and your husband and always pray together because a family that prays together stays together”, she said.

Mrs. Museveni said she is a prayer warrior who prays for this country, her loved ones and assured the families of the bride and groom that she will also continue to pray for this young couple. Susan Muhwezi and General Jim Muhwezi thanked their daughter and wished her a happy marriage. “Samantha go and make me proud where you are going with Kassami”, Muhwezi said.

In his sermon, Bishop Benon Magezi of North Kigezi Diocese he appealed to the lovers to always put God at the centre of their lives. He said marriage is a learning process where they are bound to make mistakes but encouraged them to always be patient with each other. He said what they are entering in is a serious life commitment that requires forgiveness, love care and compassion.

Speaker after speaker during the function, encouraged the Samantha and Justin to maintain the highest level of faithfulness and to love each other selflessly.
