Janet Museveni urges people to trust God despite death
The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs. Janet Museveni has urged people to always trust God even when they lose a dear one to death. She said that when one is hurting after the death of a loved one, they tend to question what type of God can allow such to happen, but she advised people to always leave what they do not understand to God and nonetheless trust Him. “Let us believe that there is a God who is not cruel as we may now think, but actually kind. God always has a purpose, but we never can understand all His purposes. Death will always remain a mystery to us, we will never understand it. If we understood everything, then we would not need God”, she said.
Mrs. Janet Museveni was addressing the congregation of family, relatives and friends during the funeral service of the late Timothy Musherure at St Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe on Monday afternoon. The 60-year old late Timothy Musherure, who is the husband to Mrs. Museveni’s niece Suzanne Kazoora, died on Saturday morning at Case Hospital after succumbing to head injuries he received on Wednesday 8th January when a reckless taxi- driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road knocked him as he was coming from the High Court. Janet Museveni said that she chooses to thank God for His goodness and mercy despite the circumstances because Timothy who may have died at birth was given 60 years of life and has left a beautiful family.
She said there is no time in life when we want death to occur, but when it comes, it comes, and we just have to pray to God to give us the strength and comfort that can only come from Him. “My best advice as an elder to you Suzanne, the children and Timothy’s siblings on such a day when you are in great pain, is that you allow God to walk with you on the journey you face now and He will never forsake you. He will hold your hand if you let Him”, Janet Museveni said. She passed on President Museveni’s condolences to the bereaved family and friends and also thanked the people for upholding the Kinyankole culture of always coming together to comfort others in tragic times. In his sermon Rev. Geoffrey Byarugaba reminded the people of our temporary existence on earth and that death was a rude awakening to this fact. He advised everyone to make the right choice and have a personal relationship with God so that when the time comes to leave earth, they can be welcomed in Heaven.
Suzanne Kazoora Musherure, the widow, said that her husband was indirectly killed by the Judge who wrongly convicted him for a crime he did not commit because he would not have been in the vicinity of the High Court where he got the accident from at that time. The late Musherure was coming from the High Court to claim for his bail money after being acquitted in December 2019 of a case that he was falsely charged of and convicted. He was a procurement specialist and was falsely accused of being involved in the “Bicycle saga” in the Ministry of Local Government. He died trying to restore his honour and reputation. She described her husband as having had an extra ordinary gift of giving, making friends and unwavering love for his family, parents and siblings. She was grateful to the CPS stage Boda-boda riders who rushed Timothy to Case Hospital after the accident and the surgeons who tried their best to mend his head injuries. She said she was eternally grateful to all who have stayed with them throughout the trying period.
In his eulogy, Paul Kagina said the Legal system in the country tortured his brother Timothy for 8 years for a crime he did not commit and it was devastating that he has died when the family was planning to hold Thanksgiving after his being acquitted. He solicited for prayers for the legal system that at times incarcerates innocent people, the order in the city and respect for laws on the roads and for the cleanliness in hospitals. Other eulogies included those from his four children, his sister and brothers, nephews and nieces and Elly Rwakakooko an Uncle to the family. The body of late Timothy Musherure will be laid to rest at the Mutasherwa family home in Ruharo Mbarara on Wednesday after Church Service at St James’ Cathedral Ruharo Mbarara District.
