The First Lady of Uganda Mrs. Janet Museveni on Friday warmly welcomed her counterpart Mrs. Janeth Magufuli the First Lady of Tanzania who was in Uganda accompanying her husband H. E. John Pombe Magufuli on a state visit to the country.

The two First Ladies had a one on one meeting at Masaka State Lodge during which they among other issues shared experience on the roles they each play to uplift the communities in their respective countries.

Mrs. Janeth Magufuli, who was a teacher for over 24 years, revealed that she presently does a lot of work among the disabled people mainly in the Leprosy Centres that are spread all over the country. Other than that, she said she spends most of her time caring for her young family. She emphasized the importance of mothers being available for their families especially when children are very young because they are completely dependent on their mothers.

Mrs. Museveni applauded her for being devoted to her family, saying the human family is at risk so it is very encouraging to hear that there are First Ladies who are dedicating a good amount of their time to the family. She assured her counterpart that this is a noble role and with time the mothers of Tanzania will emulate her example of caring for the family.

The two later exchanged gifts before joining the Presidents for lunch.
