KNOWLEDGE AND FEAR OF GOD IS KEY TO BUILDING A GOOD FAMILY: FIRST LADY
The knowledge and fear of God is a prerequisite for building a good family, the First Lady and Minister of Sports Mrs. Janet Museveni has said.
Mrs. Janet Museveni was addressing Captain Reuben Kuribakanya who is her ADC and Christine Mpumwire shortly after they had pronounced their marriage vows at All Saints Cathedral Kampala.
“I trust you will build a good home because you know and fear God”, she told the newlywed couple and thanked them for choosing to be wedded in Church unlike some who just co-habit or elope.
She advised them to have space for God in their marriage and always pray together saying this will give their family a solid foundation.
“We shall continue to pray for you to remember to honour and fulfill your marriage vows throughout your lives and that God gives you good life, children and a home full of laughter, joy and peace”, she assured Reuben and Christine.
She encouraged them to respect their vows, and also value and preserve their family because God is against separation and divorce.
Mrs. Museveni thanked both the bride’s and the groom’s parents for raising their children well and congratulated them upon witnessing their children’s holy matrimony.
In his sermon the main celebrant Rev. Canon Geoffrey Byarugaba said that marriage is God’s idea and therefore it has to be lived out, sustained and ended in God’s way.
About building a good family, Rev. Byarugaba advised the newlywed couple to ensure they have good communication with each other, learn to apologize when in the wrong, pray together, eat together and stick together even in difficult times.
Noting that families that are healthy pray together, Rev. Byarugaba reminded husbands of their role as priests in their homes and urged them to ensure that they always lead their families in prayer.
Among those who witnessed the wedding ceremony were first daughter Natasha and her husband Edwin Karugire, Cabinet Ministers and high ranking Government officials.
