First Lady Hails China-Uganda Cordial Relations

The wife of the President, Mrs. Janet Museveni, who is also the Minister of Education and Sports, has hailed the Chinese Government for the cordial relationship that exists between the two countries – China and Uganda.

She noted that the Government of Uganda, through the outgoing Chinese Envoy, Mr. Zhao Yali, Uganda has had a lot of cooperation and a strong good working relationship.

Thank you very much, we have enjoyed working with you. You have strengthened the relationship between Uganda and China. We are so sorry that you are going away.

She told the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Uganda who called on her on recently at State House Entebbe to take leave of her.

Mrs. Janet Museveni wished Ambassador Zhao Yali God’s blessings so that he is able to return to Uganda to visit his friends in the country.

Ambassador Zhao Yali, , who is leaving Uganda after completing his 5-year tour of duties in country, saluted the Government of Uganda, under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni, for the assistance and cooperation extended to him and his team during his tenure in office as Ambassador of China in Uganda.

He highlighted the construction of Karuma and Isimbwa hydro-power dams, the 200 scholarships offered to Ugandan students by the Chinese Government, a donation of mosquito nets worth US$30,000 to the Ministry of Education and Sports to be given to students in Secondary Schools and Universities to prevent malaria, as some of the development achievements that have been realized during his tenure in Uganda.
